Performance makes emotional connection at National Cystic Fibrosis Patient Retreat in San Francisco
Growing Up Jordy Pordy continued its West coast tour with a performance at this year’s Cystic Fibrosis Patient Retreat in San Francisco, California, in August. The show was well received by the retreat’s attendees, which included CF patients, caregivers, siblings, and friends. One attendee said she felt “like someone touched her soul.” Double-lung transplant recipient Isabel Stenzel Byrnes said, “CF families have a need to get something out after they watch Growing Up Jordy Pordy, because the show is so powerful, so moving, and Herskowitz is an incredibly talented writer and performer.”

Herskowitz leads Acting Workshop for International Talent Search
Herskowitz led an intensive Acting Workshop in May 2010 for Dallas area students who will participate in an international talent search later this summer. The small class size allowed Herskowitz to focus on each student’s performance materials. Brittany Campbell, Academy Director, stated “the students thoroughly enjoyed Herskowitz’s classes and the parents appreciated his energy, constructive criticism, and attentiveness.”

Herskowitz Invited as Keynote Speaker to GPACAC Spring Conference
The Great Plains Association of College Admission Counselors invited Herskowitz as the keynote speaker to its Spring Conference. Herskowitz opened the conference with a performance of his one-man show, Growing Up Jordy Pordy, to a crowd of 200 from around the Midwest. Karen Chen, GPACAC President, was “so proud to bring Herskowitz to the conference” and believed the show’s message was an important one for high school and college admission counselors to hear.


Students Receive Numerous Callbacks at International Talent Search
After completing Herskowitz’s Acting Workshop earlier this summer, two students received numerous callbacks at this year’s International Presentation of Performers conference in Las Vegas. Another of Herskowitz’s students received an award for his monologue.

Growing Up Jordy Pordy Makes
West Coast Premiere

Growing Up Jordy Pordy had its West Coast premiere at Portland Story Theater’s Singlehandely Solo Festival on May 8, 2010. Performing at the Hipbone Studio in Portland’s historic East Burnside area, Herskowitz shared his personal story to a packed audience. Festival directors Lynne Duddy and Lawrence Howard were thrilled to bring in Herskowitz alongside international and local performers and described the show as “a perfect fit for the festival.”
